Study of Adjustment to University Life and Department Adaptation Depended on Gender in Dept. of Optometry - Focusing on the Emotional Dimension -

Abstract
Purpose: To get a different and stereoscopic accessibility for life and career coaching of maladjusted students through analyze adjustment to university life and department adaptation, different point of view and approaching by gender in Dept. of Optometry.

Methods: Recipient is 343 students who are 156 3-years course students and 187 4-years course students. Compare and analyze with adjustment to university life and department adaptation by gender.

Results: Adjustment to university life by gender from male students is 3.24 and 3.12 from female students. Male students shows little bit higher value than female students and it shows correlation in statistically(p=0.00). Adaptability of cognitive and emotional field from male students is 3.78 and 2.51. Adaptability of recognition and emotion from female students is 3.54 and 2.19. Male students show higher adaptability of department than female students and it shows correlation in statistically(p=0.00 and 0.00). Male students(3.15) show higher adaptability of environmental field than female students(3.04), however, it doesn¡¯t show correlation.

Conclusion: Every member of academics overall should recognize a magnitude of lability from male and female students who will work for medical field in near future. It needs continuous attention and seek for solution to prevent and improve.
